What's the role?

Automation QA Engineers are a key part of our multi-functional software delivery team who are responsible for the maintenance and enhancement of a suite of business systems important to effective operations at SMS Plc.

 The role gives the opportunity to apply and develop your technical skills by continuously looking for ways to improve software automation approaches across the software development function.

An Automation QA Engineer ensures that new and amended systems meet functional and non-functional requirements through the application of automated testing techniques.  Automation testing helps the software development teams at SMS to have the confidence to release new software updates more quickly and therefore deliver business value more efficiently.

They work closely with developers, business analysts and product owners to ensure that all software is of a high standard, free from defects and meets the needs of the business stakeholders.
 

Work Schedule -  Can be based Hybrid from our Glasgow or Cardiff office or remote options available. Monday - Friday.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Working with Business Analysts, Product Owners and Developers to ensure user stories have the required level of detail and user acceptance criteria.
  • Creating, modifying and maintaining automated test suites for both web and mobile applications.
  • Writing automation tests cases and analysing results from test runs.
  • Executing regression test suites for new release candidates.
  • Identify and raise awareness of risks arising from the automation test results.
  • Any other duties as required.

 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  •  Degree (or equivalent), preferably in computer science or related subject is essential
  •  ISTQB Foundation Level Agile Tester (desirable)
  •  ISTQB Test Automation Engineer  (desirable)
