The Role
 
Reporting directly to the Head of Supply Chain Delivery (HOSCD)the Electrical contracts manager will assist the HOSCD in the development and management of a suitably competent / accredited internal and external supply chain for the installation of PV, Battery, EV and other CaRe type technologies, in addition to the existing other Post Meter Electrical works for SMS ES. 
 
The Role is to act as the Electrical Contracting / Operations Lead, creating and maintaining a team of suitably competent resources to enable SMS ES to meet their required levels of installations. They will act as the expert for Post meter / 18th Edition activities providing advice and support for the HOSCD and to provide first line technical support to the Field Services Team.
 
The role has specific responsibilities with regard to the provision of Electrical Post meter (BS7671, MCS) designs & design verification either directly or via approved subcontracted partners and as such the role also has responsibility to support the identification, recruitment / onboarding and ongoing relationship management of all such resources . The successful candidate would be expected to Act as the Companies Principle Duty Holder and Nominated Technical Person with ECA, MCS and OLEV and to support the HOSCD to ensure that SMS gain and maintain all required Accreditations.
 
Special conditions -  Company Car or Car allowance provided . Work from Home with Visits to Cardiff as required (2-4 times per month) 
 
 
Key Responsibilities
 
  • To develop and manage a suitably competent team to support and sustain the growth of SMS capability within the Electrical Contracting field of work across multiple sectors and asset classes.
  • Identify, recruit / onboard the resources necessary to enable the department to meet the delivery demand requirements of the business
  • Support the development and management of competency-based assessments and authorisations
  • Directly manage the externally contracted and Directly Employed Resources
  • Acting as NICEIC Principle Duty Holder and appointed Technical person ensure the maintenance of associated accreditations for SMS moving forward
  • Take lead role in SMS ES achieving NICEIC fully Approved Contractor accreditation
  • Acting as MCS Principle Duty Holder and appointed Technical person ensure the maintenance of associated accreditations for SMS moving forwards
  • Support the design team in the development of specific designs for PV, Battery Storage, EV and other CaRe Products as required
  • Provide technical support to Supply Chain Delivery Team in the completion of their daily tasks as required
  • Provide technical support to Contract and Directly Employed Delivery Team
  • Identify and support initiatives for the technical upskilling of the project delivery team to maximise the effectiveness of our processes whilst ensuring appropriate quality, health and safety measures and checks are in place
  • Assist HOSCD with identification of process improvements to maximise administrative and coordinating activities that can be undertaken by the support services team
  • Health & safety Support of CaRe & Infrastructure delivery works
  • Create and manage Required Library of Industry documentation for NICEIC, MCS, OLEV Etc.
  • Provide typical line management HR support for directly employed workforce
  • Attend staff, customer, Regulatory Body, Manufacturer and DNO meetings, where required
  • Adherence to all relevant SMS processes, policies and procedures
  • Data – Entry and maintenance of relevant project databases / spreadsheets
  • Production and up-keep of work-related spreadsheets / reports
  • Compliance with department wide filing systems
  • Assist with end of month financial process (sales and cost queries)
  • Providing day-day administrative duties in relation to role (filing, referencing, word processing etc)
  • Liaison with Clients to offer best solutions to site requirements.
  • Any other duties as required by the HOSCD
 
 
 
 
Essential Skills and Knowledge  
 
 
  • Electrical Contracting industry Supervisory and management experience
  • Previous experience in a Electrical Contracting / Construction environment
  • Previous experience within a Renewables or EV Charging environment
  • Sound H & S knowledge and experience within electrical installation projects
  • Utilities Industry Knowledge 
  • Previous experience within an office environment 
  • Previous experience of Project Management activities
  • Previous experience of line management
  • Previous experience of man management
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages
  • Able to organize and priorities to meet deadlines 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication

Educational Qualifications / Memberships 
 
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or HNC
  • Project Management qualifications
  • BS7671 18th Edition
  • C&G 2919 – Electric Vehicle Installations
  • C&G 2391 or equivalent 
  • NVQ Level 4 Design and Verification of Electrical Systems
  • Renewable Energy Sources Design and Regulations [MCS Accreditation]
  • Member of Electrical Engineering Professional Body
  • Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH)
  • SMSTS
