Job Overview 
 
Reporting to the Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works), the works will span all aspects of project management and design support service activities instructed through the Utility Services team.  This is a key supporting role for the Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works) in ensuring end to end project delivery and client satisfaction, meeting deadlines, ordering, invoicing, H&S documentation and client liaison. 
 
You and your team will provide project engineering consultancy and project delivery requiring utility infrastructure connections, and integrations ranging from: -
 
  • Electric Vehicle Charging
  • Photovoltaic Provision
  • Battery Storage 
  • Sub Metering of Electric Services
  • Other Electrical installation works
  • Site Survey and Distribution Analysis
 
You will represent the company in project meetings, providing technical advice and project updates to clients at their premises and on site.
 
 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
  • Day to day management of a portfolio of projects / clients.
  • Support the Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works) to manage a team of administrative, Engineering and coordinating staff.
  • Assist with one-one sessions to develop the coordinators knowledge and project management skills.
  • Monitor and update relevant project databases to ensure accuracy / data integrity.
  • To work closely alongside the Delivery and Engineering Teams to provide a quality service to clients, within necessary deadlines.
  • Ensure invoices are processed in a timely manner following completion of work.
  • Production and up-keep of work-related spreadsheets / reports.
  • Assist with end of month financial process (sales and cost queries).
  • Assist with overdue and debt report.
  • Monitor and update relevant project databases to ensure accuracy / data integrity.
  • Entry, production, up-keep and maintenance of relevant project databases / spreadsheets / reports.
  • Dealing with incoming data and processing internal enquiries.
  • Engages a culture of ‘continuous improvement’ and embraces the safety, health, environmental and quality systems employed by SMS.
  • Support the Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works) in creating and nurturing a culture where employees and clients are at the centre of everything we do.
  • Responsible for regular reporting to Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works).
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders to obtain or relay technical and commercial aspects of delivery projects.
  • Maintain awareness of changes and developments within the energy and utilities marketplace. 
  • Represent the company in client meetings, providing advice and regular project updates through efficient use of meetings, systems and reports.
  • Ensure all Company processes and policies are adhered to.
  • Ensure all existing and potential client and project data obtained by way of day to day activities is recorded in the relevant Company systems and GDPR is adhered to. 
  • Apply SMS policies and procedures in the delivery of projects assigned by the Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works).
  • Assume responsibility for ensuring appropriate PO cover from clients and for the timely invoicing of completed works.
  • Any other duties required by the Service Delivery Manager (Electrical Works) and Head of Engineering.
 
 
 
Education and Professional Qualifications
 
  • A Higher-level qualification in an engineering discipline is desirable but not essential.
  • A Qualification in Project Management (Prince 2) is desirable 
  • IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) or better is desirable.
  • Membership of a professional body such as the IET is desirable, where Incorporated/Chartered Engineer Status would be seen as an advantage.
 
 
Skills that are Essential:
 
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering
  • Experienced background Project Management.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Able to interpret technical documents, specifications and drawings
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent numerical and commercial reasoning, and problem solving
  • Quality compliance
  • Customer Service 
  • Has good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation, Regulations and Approved Codes of Practice
  • Experience of professional report writing and attending client progress meetings
 
Skills that are Desirable:
  • Knowledge of EREC G81 and other Distribution Code documents relevant to the work in hand.
  • Conversant with IET Regulations, in particular BS7671
  • Has basic knowledge of New Roads and Street Works Act, Traffic Management Act and associated codes of practice
