The Team Manager will be required to manage the day-to-day operations of the given Team who are responsible for processing industry flows, troubleshooting issues, responding to customer queries and reporting.  This will be achieved by providing clear guidance to team members on their expectations. Plans will be developed and implemented to ensure individual and team expectations are achieved. As well as strong performance management capability the Team Manager will also look to continually develop their team. This role will also encompass all personnel related matters, customer management Inc. reporting and the setting and monitoring of team/individual targets.  As well as having responsibility to ensure financial targets are achieved the role also requires an awareness of technical related issues, both internal and external factors to further develop the business.  Working closely with other teams the Team Manager is key to ensuring a continuous improvement ethos is adopted. The Team Manager will provide all necessary training and support to all Team personnel.

Typical Duties

  • Manage a team to deliver Elec & Gas MAP Only activities and Gas MAM Only activities
  • Supervise the workload of the team, allocating to team members to optimise department workload
  • Responsibility for maximising quality of information input into SMS’s Asset Management System (METIS)
  • Is responsible for ensuring that the system integrity is maintained through proactive management of the system on a daily, weekly, monthly and ad-hoc basis
  • Manage teams to ensure Customer queries are resolved & responded to within 10 Days
  • Ensuring file flow SLA’s are met or exceeded for both Gas and Elec
  • Liaising with internal/external resource to deliver a high level of customer service to our Customers
  • Create & distribute accurate internal and external MI reports as required
  • Manage & report on internal & external enquiries from Customers and respond in a timely and professional manner
  • Managing personnel activities including implementation of development plans
  • Ensuring all processes and work instructions are documented and controlled in line with ISO standards
  • Ensure statistical information is produced, collated and analysed on a daily basis to assist in evaluating the efficiency of the team
  • Deliver continuous improvement activities within the department
  • To comply with all SMS plc Health, Safety and Environmental requirements

Required Skills

  • Numerate & IT proficient
  • Excellent numerical reasoning and problem solving    
  • Drive & focus to ensure a high level of data accuracy within the team
  • Adapt team to suit the companies requirements    
  • Monitor the changing needs of the industry, liaising with internal and external customers to identify areas for improvement and make recommendations for system improvements

    
Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of Elec & Gas data industry
  • Customer Management
  • P&L awareness/management
  • Previous experience of monitoring, coaching and managing team performance
  • Experience of performing training needs analysis & training any requirements out to team members
  • College &/or University HND / Degree    
  • Team Leadership
