What's the role?
This is an opportunity for an experienced auditor who has the drive to influence change. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and be integral to ongoing projects and process standardisation following recent acquisitions. This position is part of the wider SHEQ function and is key in maintaining the groups’ ISO certification.
To fulfill this role; travel to other SMS sites is essential, therefore, a full and current driving license and access to a vehicle is required.
Work Schedule - Hybrid working Monday to Friday. Please note, candidates should be flexible with regards to working 2 days per week at an SMS office location. This could be from our Cardiff , Glasgow, Doncaster , Newmarket or Bolton office. This role is fixed term for 18 months.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the development of the IMS audit schedule, using a risk-based approach.
- Lead and manage IMS audits (end to end), often in complex risk areas.
- Report on the effectiveness of policies, systems, processes, and procedures, making recommendations for improvements and developing action plans.
- Monitor and report on action plans to ensure that they are implemented effectively and within agreed timescales (for both internal and external audits).
- Drive continuous improvement, through recommended changes to business operations, processes, and system enhancements.
- Prepare for and lead external audits.
- Lead on extending the scope of the IMS following acquisitions.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Qualified QMS Lead Auditor/Auditor or qualified by demonstratable experience.
- Qualified Internal Auditor (IIA or equivalent).
- Experience and proficient in the use of office packages e.g., Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- As this is a lead role, demonstratable experience in developing the annual audit schedule using a risk-based approach is required.
- Extensive experience in leading and managing internal audits to ISO standards or strong operational audit background.
- Experience in embedding ISO requirements across business areas.
- Proficient in writing evidential based audit reports to a high standard and with minimal support.Good working knowledge of current legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Experience of dealing with external auditors.
- History in driving change initiatives and improvements.
- A full and current driving license and access to a vehicle is required.
