The Role

The role of Metering Coordinator is to maximise customer appointments for both Gas / Electricity Meter visits & plan the work for SMS field engineers, including grouping jobs in the most efficient way possible and arranging access ahead of their visit.

You will provide constant support to SMS’s field engineers and any sub-contractors, including directions when necessary, and schedule amendments in order to maximise meter installs and keep cancelled jobs to a minimum.The role also involves working closely with other areas of the Company to accommodate customer requirements.

Core working hours typically between 9am -5pm Monday to Friday


Typical Duties

  • Deal with both inbound and outbound customer appointment calls in accordance with supplier booking guidelines
  • Schedule work for SMS Field Engineers to ensure working day is efficient as possible
  • Arrange access as appropriate (primarily over the telephone) to ensure engineer can complete scheduled jobs
  • Ensure that all jobs are claimed by the morning after job completion
  • Identify any issues and raise to Metering Delivery Manager
  • Provide support to all SMS Field Engineers and sub-contractors
  • Maintain work management database and any other relevant systems
  • Ensure industry flows are sent where necessary
  • Liaise with other departments to ensure optimum service delivery
  • Handling of ad-hoc queries from engineers, customers, Suppliers, and other teams
  • Self-disciplined individual that assumes responsibility for complex workloads to generate the right outcome.

  • Technical knowledge to offer solutions is desirable

 

Education and Professional Qualifications

  • Education up to GCSE (or equivalent) standard is essential
  • Recognised course / qualification in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel ect) would be desirable


Experience

  • Experience of working in a team is essential
  • Experience of an environment where the communication is largely telephone based is essential
  • Experience in energy industry or similar
  • Experience of working under pressure and delivering deadlines
