Job Overview 
 
Reporting to Head of Supply Chain Delivery / Senior PM - Renewables, you will act as the SMS Energy Services (ES) site representative on a number of SMS Energy services portfolio of Grid Connected Battery Energy Storage System new build projects, working alongside the appointed contractors.
 
The project manager will ensure that the designs and standards applicable for the works are being adhered to by the appointed contractor and that all works are being carried out in a safe manner with all required SHEQ elements are on place. You will be responsible for signing off completed works as required by the
PM and Head of supply chain delivery (HOSCD)  . 
 
You will also represent the company in project meetings, providing technical advice as agreed with the PM & HOSCD and prepare and issue regular reports .
 
Special conditions -  Work from Home / Site (Burwell or Barnsley) with visits to Cardiff office as required (2 times per month)
 
 
Key Responsibilities 
 
  • You will act as SMS Energy Services Responsible and accountable for the timely and relevant reporting of project progress and subcontractor performance on a weekly basis to the SPM/PM and Head of Supply Chain Delivery (HOSCD)
  • To check that the contractor is carrying out the works in compliance with the CDM regulations,carrying out regular on site checks that ensure that the site team fully understand the site rules are understood by all those on site
  • To carryout check Control and maintain all H&S, environmental, quality and site-specific documentation, as well as check and review all sub-contractor H&S documentation on site and issuing work permits.
  • Track the procurement schedule of materials & equipment, ensure all deliveries are inspected for damage or any defects before accepting , manage material stock on site
  • Understand and interpret technical drawings and information to support sub-contractors
  • Accept and sign off completed works based on drawing specification, quality standards
  • Ensure timely and effective communication with internal clients, contractors, suppliers, utility owners, DNO, Project Team, and Senior Management throughout the project preparation and execution, provide regular updates/reports as required 
  • Manage project completion and acceptance including tests and commissioning for each work activity, snagging list, work completion tests, PAC and handover to the O&M team
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and business ethics codes including anti-bribery policy and Environmental and Quality Management System and Policy.
  • Attend any required meetings on behalf of SMS ES including DNO, Site provider, Contractor’s, Highways etc.
  • Acknowledge the importance of Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality information, ensuring compliance with safe working practices and appropriate use of risk assessments.
  • Maintains good working knowledge of relevant SHEQ Legislation, Technical Standards, Utility Policies and Procedures, Distribution Safety Codes etc.
  • Conducts oneself and portrays oneself in a professional manner and demonstrates a positive image when representing SMS. 
 
 
Education and Professional Qualifications
 
  • Electrical Engineering Degree or HNC
  • Project Management qualifications
  • Health & Safety Qualification (IOSH or NEBOSH)
  • SMSTS / SMSTS 
 
 
 
Skills and knowledge
 
  • Previous experience in Electrical Connections Construction environment
  • Previous experience within a Grid Connected Renewables environment
  • Sound H & S knowledge and experience within large electrical connections / Renewable
  • construction projects
  • Utilities Industry Knowledge
  • Previous experience of Project Management activities
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Packages
  • Able to organize and priorities to meet deadlines
  • Able to produce suitable internal and external reports
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Excellent problem solving
