What's the role?

As the QA Manager you will oversees the quality assurance activities for the software change teams at SMS.  You are accountable for the software testing strategies and all quality aspects of any software change management process.
This role enables SMS to deliver fit for purpose software system updates that are stable, reliable and defect free.  Ensuring that business services can generate customer value in the most efficient way without errors or systems issues.

 The job requires a data driven approach to the continuous improvement of software quality, acting as the guardian of quality in the delivery teams.  You will also be responsible for the performance of individual QA team members, across different office locations, and is responsible for their personal development.

 You will work closely with all software delivery and change management roles to successfully deliver software enhancements.  Involved from the project initiation phase you will be expected to define software testing strategy and liaise with SMS customer and suppliers during system integration projects. 

Work Schedule; - Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm contractual 37.5 hours per week.


Key responsibilities:

  • Line management responsibilities for QA Analysts and QA Automation Engineers including performance management and personal development activities
  • Empowering and motivating the team to deliver to their full potential
  • Recruiting and retaining QA capability needed to support IT delivery roadmap
  • Accountable for software initiative testing strategies
  • Measuring and reporting on software quality throughout the development process
  • Implementing best practice processes for testing across the IT group
  • Managing testing and release related communications with external parties (customers, suppliers, 3rd parties)
  • Accountable for QA component of release management process.


To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Essential - Degree (or equivalent), preferably in computer science or related subject 
  • Business Skills
  • Leadership Skills
