What's the role?
Your role as SMETS2 Test administrator is to support the delivery of the SMETS2 testing services for SMS. Testing is an integral part of SMS’s unique offering as Meter Asset Provider to both our existing Supplier partners, along with wider strategic industry partners supporting growth in developing new business opportunities.
SMS is seen as industry leading in SMETS2 testing, and this role supports our growth plans in both supplier and industry wide testing services.
You will be involved in interaction with the wider Smart Product Team, our supplier partners, and our strategic industry partners. The role is based in our Bolton Test Centre and may involve some travel to other sites.
This is an exciting opportunity to join SMS’ Smart test team and help deliver our strategic ambitions and to develop skills within a dynamic and supportive working environment
Contractual 40 hours per week.
Key responsibilities:
- Working closely with Energy Suppliers and Manufacturers to ensure new assets remain fit for purpose and function as required throughout roll out and change.
- Set up for and execute SMETS2 end to end testing plans
- Support testing and reporting activities for SMS’s Testing Services (including Alt HAN), including the below;
- Creating HAN scenarios in SMS’s DCC RTL and perform firmware upgrades;
- Regression test and HAN stability assurance post upgrade
- Take findings and produce a HAN scenario assurance matrix based on results, providing advice on best upgrade paths as necessary.
- Zigbee and Comm Hub Tracing
- Test Exit report writing
- Performing MI reporting and analytics
- Support the management of defects and problems of the products and work closely with Change Management, Suppliers and Manufactures throughout triaging, reporting and resolution
- Any other duties as required
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Experience of working in a similar environment, specifically with SMETS2 products
- Experience in end-to-end SMETS2 testing from an Energy Suppliers perspective
- Experience of using the Usmart BOL is desired
- Understanding of SMETS2, GBCS design and DCC and DCC Adaptors roles in the SMETS2 ecosystem
- Experience in end-to-end SMETS2 testing, withing DCC test environments and Zigbee ideally in a RTL (Remote Test Lab)
- Design, implementation, and execution of test plans relative to SMETS2
- In depth knowledge of energy industry relative to SMETS2
- Understanding of Alt HAN technology and proposed solutions
