What's the role?

As Associate Counsel you will be working with the General Counsel/Company Secretary and Head of Legal to provide legal services on all aspects of the mandate and operational issues, covering governance, corporate and institutional legal matters. You must be a qualified solicitor in Scotland or England and Wales with valid practicing certificate at least 2 - 6 years PQE.

Work Schedule - Hybrid working Monday to Friday with 2 days per week at our Glasgow Head Office.

Key responsibilities:

  • Works on all legal and regulatory aspects of the company including:
    • Customer Contracts
    • Confidentiality Agreements
    • Litigation (including employee litigation)
    • Competition
    • Intellectual Property
    • Health & Safety
    • Property
    • M&A
    • Funding
    • Employee Terms
    • Data Protection
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations
  • Works in a team of in-house solicitors
  • Consider legal risks, create strategies to mitigate them
  • Advising executive, senior management and board on various matters
  • Establish effective and best practice governance processes for the Board and Committees and ensure the efficient administration of the board and committees  
  • The duties listed are not exhaustive, and therefore additional duties, responsibilities, and projects as appropriate will be required

 

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • An LLB Degree from a Scottish, English, or Welsh University
  • Experience at mid/senior level within an established top tier law firm, or substantial in-house organisation with at least 2 - 6 years PQE
  • Experience of corporate or related law, and knowledge of corporate governance issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality
  • A sound knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations, and the ability to make prudent legal decisions
  • High levels of integrity
  • Strong experience working as part of a team with outstanding advocacy and people skills
