What's the role?
As the Credit Controller at SMS Energy, you will be responsible for credit risk management, timely collection, and resolution of queried accounts.
You will be based at our Head Office in Glasgow. Working 40 contractual hours per week, Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5pm.
Key responsibilities:
- Responsible for the timely collection of all B2B payments. Expected to ensure that debts are chased promptly and effectively by telephone, email, and reminder letters regarding the collection of debt in accordance with payment terms the company policies and procedures.
- Record all action taken on an account utilising the D365 system, following up on calls and actions as agreed with the customer.
- Work towards targets for cash collection to reduce outstanding debt exposure to the group.
- Reconciliation of accounts to ensure statements produced are accurate and cash/credit notes are posted to invoices as per the customers’ remittance.
- Effectively deal with financial queries and disputes relating to invoicing. Record queries accurately on D365 and follow through to resolution. Build strong relations with customers to ensure excellent customer service.
- Ability to identify potential problem accounts, recommending accounts to be placed on stop or legal.
- Credit risk Management. Establishing credit limits for new customers and ensuring credit limits are kept current for existing clients. Alerting Senior Management to significant changes to the credit risk of clients and managing bad debt provision.
- Consumer collection activities
- Quality and assurance on consumer collections achieved weekly.
- Achieve targets set in cash collection and productivity as directed.
- AR activities if required.
- Ad hoc projects.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- Degree level education desirable
- 5GCSEs (or equivalent) in grades D or above
- Employment experience within the utility industry preferable
- Experience in an office environment
- History of data analysis within a working environment
- Excellent organisational skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Good numerical ability with attention to detail
- Proficient in Microsoft Office package
