What's the role?

SMS are currently on the lookout for a Finance Assistant to join a busy and dynamic team on a 12-month fixed-term basis. The Finance Assistant will ensure that all profit lines are reviewed and correctly applied, making cost saving opportunities where applicable and maximizing profit potential.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in P&L and Balance Sheet activity for Metering business area.
  • Revenue analysis including identification of sales opportunities. 
  • Revenue accrual management, postings and reconciliations.
  • Support activity to review and manage aged debt position. 
  • Management and analysis of costs within the Metering P&L including intercompany postings, accruals and prepayments. 
  • Analysis of intercompany charges including review of abort charges and job count analysis.
  • Preparation of Balance Sheet Reconciliations and support with P&L variance analysis.
  • Delivery of regular Management reporting to Management team.
  • Support annual budget and reforecasting exercises.
  • Any other duties required.

 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have/be:

  • Educated to an A-Level or equivalent level.
  • Relevant Accountancy/Finance qualifications (preferred).
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Experience of dealing with Financial Reporting and Accounting.
  • Electricity Metering industry and/or Data  industry knowledge.
  • The ability to work individually and as part of a team/
  • A results orientated mindset and be able to think analytically.
  • Resilient and responsive to change.

 

This role is offered on a hybrid working basis. All of our roles are based on 40 hours per week, with a 30 minute unpaid break for lunch.
