What's the role?

At SMS plc, within our Home Energy Solutions Division, we are in a start-up phase, looking to bring to market a range of energy solutions to domestic customers in the UK through a variety of channels. We want to be the UK’s No.1 partner for the development, deployment, and management of Home Energy Solutions. Providing turnkey solutions, financing, quality delivery, data, and flexibility services. We have ambitious plans to grow the business to offer Customers the best products, customer journey, and support. The team is passionate, motivated, and hard-working and we are looking for our next team member, a Head of Technical Delivery.

SMS currently have UK offices in Glasgow, Cardiff, Doncaster, Bolton and Newmarket. We are able to consider candidates for this role so long as you would be within a commutable distance to one of these sites. This role is offered on a hybrid working basis, with 2 days a week in office and 3 at home as a rough guideline.

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop and implement the delivery growth strategy.
  • Develop and grow the technical team as the team expands.
  • Oversee the implementation of new propositions and products.
  • Oversee technical and design compliance for all renewables solutions.
  • Develop / implement / govern technical ways of working in technical department.
  • Manage a technical team across regional hubs.Support the scaling and growth of technical team to meet our sales targets. 
  • Oversee continuous improvement in design processes and technical standards.
  • Support the development of future business opportunities and value streams.
  • Create and document processes and ways of working.
  • Any other duties as required.

 

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Required: A Degree or an equivalent level of qualification in Engineering or related discipline. Electrical Engineering degree is highly desirable.
  • Desirable: Any training certificates or qualifications related to the design, and installation of Solar, PV, EV Charging or other renewable technologies.
  • Desirable: Training in 18th Edition Wiring Regulations.
  • Technical expertise in energy solutions and be capable of working with external and internal delivery partners.
  • Experience of developing and delivering technical training for installers, sales, and aftersales teams.
  • Excellent leadership and influencing capabilities.
  • Experience of leading and working within a fast-paced multi-disciplined team.
  • Excellent commercial acumen and experience of managing supply chain forinstallation partners.
  • The ability to communicate well with senior stakeholders both written and oral form.
  • Experience managing internal and third-party contractual requirements and SLA’s.
  • Experience of managing a multi-faceted delivery model whilst delivery of a first-class safety record.
