What's the role?
SMS are currently looking for an I&C Gas Engineer (Level 1) to join the business. This role is field based and will involve visiting different sites installing, exchanging, maintenance and removal of all types of Industrial & Commercial gas meters all pressure tiers and associated items including telemetry equipment. Most often this will involve solitary working, with larger installations occasionally required and these are attended by the engineer and an assistant.
Some of the duties include maintaining adequate stock levels on the company vehicle and communicate with various internal departments to review planning, stock, vehicle issues etc.
This role is contracted to 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with Overtime, on-call and weekend working required on a rotational basis.
Key Responsibilities:
Comply with all Safety, Health and Environmental legislation and management system requirements in your area of responsibility ensuring:
- You use equipment and materials in line with training instructions and safe systems of work.
- You assess workplaces to ensure they are safe and work in line with site / company rules and requirements.
- You comply with company requirements to carry out and adhere to risk assessments and safe systems of work.
- You report all incidents, near misses, inadequate arrangements, or unsafe situations immediately in line with company reporting procedures.
- You participate in health and safety training, briefings, toolbox talks, and conferences as required.
- You never interfere with anything provided in the interests of health and safety.
- You will stop working and seek guidance if you believe anything is unsafe.
- Regular communication with management and Planning Department.
- Follow all agreed processes to encourage a consistent approach to all tasks.
- Strive to deliver the future of smart energy in line with our company vision and values.
- Installation, Exchange, Removal and Maintenance of I&C gas metering assets and associated equipment.
- Installation and commissioning of correctors.
- Installation of AMR.
- Out of hours working to meet clients’ needs when required.
- Cover on call rota.
- Other related duties as required to meet business needs.
- Interaction and liaison with the Planning Team.
- Maintain safety standards and follow working procedures.
- Control and manage stock.
- Ensure company vehicle remains roadworthy, complete vehicle checks and inform the Fleet Department of any issued.
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have/be:
- CMA1 & MET4, ICPN1 TPCP1 / TPCP1A Level 3.
- CMA1 & MET4,CMET1,ICPN1 TPCP1 / TPCP1A Level 2.
- CMA1 & MET4,CMET1,CMET2, REGT1 & 2 (optional) ICPN1 TPCP1 / TPCP1A level 1.
- Full Driving Licence.
- The ability to work on own initiative or as part of a team.
- A natural ability to problem solve and be able to react and resolve issues in an ever-changing landscape.
- The ability to work well under pressure whilst constantly considering opportunity for improvement and development.
- Confident IT ability on all Microsoft suites.
- Good understanding of mobile phone / tablet applications.
- Good attention to detail.
