What's the role
SMS are currently looking for a Management Accountant to just a fast-paced Finance Department in Glasgow. This role is responsible for financial accounting of assigned entities and monthly reporting to stakeholders. Ability to deliver on-point analysis and commentary is key to success in this role. Management of results is a key deliverable, timeliness and accuracy are imperative. Process improvement offers enhancement and growth opportunities to this role.
This is a key role within the business which will offer exposure to senior stakeholders, and opportunity to add real value in a growing business with scope for progression.
This role is offered on a hybrid working basis (2 days in the office and 3 days at home typically), and the working hours are 40 hours per week. The shift pattern is 8:30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Responsible for accurate & timely accounting for assigned entities, in line with the relevant accounting policies.
- Responsible for preparation and presentation of monthly financial results, including delivery of variance analysis against budgets.
- Preparation of accruals, prepayments and other journal entries.
- Management of balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
- Cash forecasting and tracking.
- Assisting in the preparation of short and longer-term budgeting and forecasting.
- Supporting the audit process (both internal and external).
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have/be:
- A fully qualified and accredited accountant.
- Strong technical knowledge of management accounting principles and techniques.
- Use of accounting systems, D365 (or similar) is preferred, and familiarity with all Microsoft packages; with proficient excel skills.
- Ability to analyse and present data.
- Demonstrated track record of controllership.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to explain information in a clear and understandable manner.
- Ability to work closely with and build relationships with different departments and stakeholders at various levels.
- Motivated and organised self-starter with a flexible working attitude and ability to prioritise competing demands.
