What's the role?
Sitting within the Data Services department and reporting into the Head of Agent Services, the MEM (Metering Equipment Management) Manager role is key as part of a vital, high-growth area of the SMS business.
As the MEM Manager you will be required to manage and control all operational activities within the department relating to electricity and gas Industry data flows and associated activities. This role will also encompass all personnel related matters, customer management and internal and external reporting. Significant elements of the role will be ensuring that the business is performing as successfully as possible within the strict compliance framework, exceeding Industry and contractual targets, maintaining a strong P&L focus, developing new business, and guiding the department through ongoing growth in line with our continuous improvement ethos and Industry changes.
Working closely with a number of stakeholders including customers, Industry specialists, technical experts and regulatory bodies, this role is key to supporting and delivering product development strategies.
From time-to time you may be required to travel to other SMS offices and to Supplier and Customer premises for meetings. General working hours will be 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
Key responsibilities:
- Manage all day-to-day operations of Gas and Electricity MEM department
- Responsible for maintaining compliance with applicable governing bodies and the success of relevant audits
- Manage P&L for Gas and Electricity MEM department
- Ensure department meets and exceeds strict contractual and Industry-driven targets
- Develop and implement changes in line with the department strategy and as dictated by Industry
- Responsible for regular management reporting to line manager
- Responsible for all personnel related matters within department including capacity planning, forecasting, recruitment and staff development
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
- GSCE (or equivalent) in English and Maths
- Higher education to A-level or Degree (or equivalent) - Desirable
- Proven management experience including staff development
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages
- Ability to organise and prioritise workload for yourself and others
- Management of a P&L
- Demonstrable experience of working within a regulated framework
- Excellent problem-solving skills
