What's the role?
Reporting to the NHH/HH Asset Product Owner , the Technical Support Engineer role is to ensure that SMS achieves its installation commitments safely, by providing support and technical knowledge to the SMS employees and customers. The role will involve travel in the field to spend time auditing, coaching, mentoring and developing our CT Field Engineers. The role will also involve taking the lead on all CT Electric training delivery requirements and working with the Training and Compliance Manager accordingly.
This role is field based, and the working hours are 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday.
Key Responsibilities:
Some of the key responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Assist the NHH/HH Asset Product Owner to ensure all Health, Safety and Environmental Regulations and company targets are achieved, promoting a high level of Health Safety and Environmental Management throughout the business and actively participate in safety and technical forums as required by the business.
- Support the development of company e-learning training and amendments to procedures.
- Deliver training to the highest standard.
- Assist the Training and Compliance Manager with external visits, audits and awarding bodies.
- Assess candidates on all aspects of CT Electric metering installations.
- Develop and improve training to meet the business requirements.
- Responsible for delivering the “ CT Electric competency assessment” process.
- Mentor field work force and coach where necessary to deliver continual improvement.
- Carry out tooling and equipment checks to ensure all field operatives are compliant.
To be considered for this role, we would love the following:
Required:
- Driving Licence (a current UK driving licence, or equivalent which enables driving in the UK).
- CT HV metering Installations.
- CT LV metering installations.
- 18th Edition Qualified (preferred but not essential).
- CT HV Inspection and Testing experience.
- CT LV Inspection and Testing experience.
Desirable:
- IOSH
- Assessor qualification
Skills and Knowledge:
- Commercially aware.
- Able to work under own initiative, and deliver withing tight timescales.
- Able to prioritise workload effectively.
- Data Protection and GDPR Compliant.
- Strong Communications and Interpersonal Skills.
- Strong coaching ability with strong technical experience.
- Strong IT Skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong Working Knowledge of the Gas & Electric Metering Industry standards, procedures and health and safety requirements.
